Trumpet Honeysuckle
Coral honeysuckle is a semi-evergreen twining woody vine that needs a support structure upon which to grow unless allowed to sprawl as a ground cover. Older stems develop papery brown exfoliating bark. The bright red tubular flowers are well-known to attract butterflies but the bright red fruits are also attractive—to birds; quail, purple finches, goldfinches, hermit thrushes, and American robins.
